Syllabus:
Network: Principles and applications of Computer Aided Circuit Design, Transfer function, one port network, poles and zeroes, Synthesis of networks, Two port networks, different filter networks and matching frequency and time domain analysis, elements of network topology. Lines: Equations, characteristics impedance, propagation constant, Group and phase velocities, voltage-current distributions, reflections co-efficient and VSWR, smith chart, losses and minimization. Fields: Ampere's law, magnetic permeability, magnetic vector potential, magneto static energy, Maxwell's equation: time varying electric and magnetic field, electromagnetic induction, Faraday's law displacement current. Maxwell's equation in integral and point form. Uniform plane wave equation and solution, plane wave propagation, skin depth, pointing theorem, pointing vector reflection and refraction of plane waves.
